Tommy Rees Injury: Notre Dame QB Leaves Game Against Stanford After Hard Hit

Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Tommy Rees has left Saturday's game against the Stanford Cardinal just minutes after it started. He was hit hard by a Stanford defender and needed help to get up from the field and head to the sidelines. Rees had just attempted a pass to Tyler Eifert on 1st-and-20, but the pass fell incomplete.

Andrew Hendrix relieved Rees on the drive and went 0-for-1 and picked up three rushing yards before the team wound up punting on 4th-and-17. Hendrix, a sophomore, is seen as the future at quarterback for the Irish, but he has seen little playing time this year, just as head coach Brian Kelly has wanted it to be.

The Stanford Cardinal took a 7-0 lead on the ensuing drive when Andrew Luck threw a three-yard touchdown pass.
