Border War 2011 Final Score: Missouri Bids Kansas Adieu

KU made a go of it, running out to a 10-0 advantage that entertained visions of a blue-decked Turner Gill on the sidelines in 2012.

The Tigers are in line for a bowl bid, perhaps the worst one the Big 12 can convince its affiliated exhibitions to extend, while Kansas puts together its second straight mortifying campaign on Gill’s watch. If you said this was Gill’s last game against Missouri, nobody would laugh at you.

Missouri Vs. Kansas Score: Border War More Like Skirmish This Year

Remember when Missouri and Kansas used to play in high-scoring affairs, or at least decent-scoring affairs, like a 36-28 showdown in 2007, or a 40-37 clash in 2008, or a 41-39 shootout in 2009? Yeah, that’s probably not going to happen this year. Kansas leads the game 10-0 early.

Missouri Vs. Kansas: Border War Game Time, TV Schedule, Spread And More

Unfortunately for fans of college football, the historic faceoff does not pit two powerhouses against each other, but rather one mediocre team, Missouri, against one downright terrible team, Kansas. The Tigers are 6-5, and are coming off their first win streak of the year after beating Texas and Texas Tech in Columbia in consecutive weeks.

Kansas is, well, struggling, to say the least. After beating McNeese State and Northern Illinois to open the year, the Jayhawks have lost nine straight games, including their most recent against Texas A&M 61-7. Fans in Lawrence are thankful that basketball season has arrived, because it’s not going to be easy watching the football team lose to their most hated rival for the third straight year.
