The West Virginia Moutaineers should have their final Big East matchup of the year under control, but have been unable to pull away from the South Florida Bulls. The ‘Eers are leading, 20-13, but a series of third-quarter mistakes have kept USF hanging around. And West Virginia has still been unable to muster an offensive touchdown.
The Mountaineers did find the end zone in the third quarter, but it came by way of a kickoff return. Following a USF field goal, Marvin Kloss took the ensuing kickoff straight to the house, scoring on a 90-yard return. It was the only touchdown of the quarter.

After a scoreless first quarter, the West Virginia Mountaineers opened up a 10-0 lead in the second as they try to keep their Big East hopes alive. The ‘Eers were looking good, up by 10 and keeping the South Florida Bulls relatively in check. But at the half, we have a game on our hands, with the Mountaineers leading USF by a 13-7 margin.
West Virginia struck first, on the first of two field goals by Tyler Bitancourt thus far. His 23-yard try early in the second quarter was true, giving the ‘Eers a 3-0 lead. Field goals were the name of the game with both teams struggling, and West Virginia was able to score an offensive touchdown. In fact, the only touchdown of the game came on a pick-six, with Pat Miller intercepting B.J. Daniels and taking it to the house.
