After a scoreless first quarter, the West Virginia Mountaineers opened up a 10-0 lead in the second as they try to keep their Big East hopes alive. The ‘Eers were looking good, up by 10 and keeping the South Florida Bulls relatively in check. But at the half, we have a game on our hands, with the Mountaineers leading USF by a 13-7 margin.

West Virginia struck first, on the first of two field goals by Tyler Bitancourt thus far. His 23-yard try early in the second quarter was true, giving the ‘Eers a 3-0 lead. Field goals were the name of the game with both teams struggling, and West Virginia was able to score an offensive touchdown. In fact, the only touchdown of the game came on a pick-six, with Pat Miller intercepting B.J. Daniels and taking it to the house.
South Florida cut the deficit to three, 10-7, on a B.J. Daniels touchdown pass to Sterling Griffin with just over to five minutes to go. West Virginia then answered with a field goal just before the half, taking a 13-7 lead into the break.
