Matt McGloin: Locker Room Scuffle ‘Was My Fault’

Penn St. Nittany Lions quarterback Matt McGloin was knocked unconscious during a locker room fight with wide receiver Curtis Drake on Saturday.

According to McGloin (via The Post-Gazette), the fight was his fault and his injury was an accident. According to McGloin, he slipped and hit his head on the concrete floor at the Lasch Football Building after ten seconds of fighting.

“The next thing I remember is waking up on a stretcher,” he said, “and going to the hospital.”

“I’m willing to take full responsibility -- it was my fault,” he said. “I started it, but as a quarterback for this university, I should be held to a higher standard. It should not have happened. I should’ve walked away from it.

“It was just two guys who are emotional about the game, who got into an argument.”

Interim coach Tom Bradley said Monday that McGloin and Drake “will face internal discipline.” Bradley has not name a starting quarterback for Penn State’s bowl game and has not announced that McGloin has been cleared to play yet.
