Dayne Crist Announces Transfer To Kansas, Re-Joining Charlie Weis

Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Dayne Crist announced Thursday he'll reunite with former Irish coach Charlie Weis as a member of the Kansas Jayhawks. Crist has reportedly also been interested in the Wisconsin Badgers and FCS Delaware.

Dayne Crist@dcrist10 After a long & difficult decision making process, I'm incredibly excited to join the Kansas football team. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Earlier in the week, our own Bill Connelly projected what Kansas’ 2012 offense might look like if Weis is able to incorporate Crist. Prognosis: not a whole lot better, but probably better than the offense Jordan Webb was able to lead.

There's also word that Weis could land BYU Cougars transfer Jake Heaps for the following year, setting up an instant quarterback succession chart. Since Crist has already graduated, he's eligible to play right away.

He’ll take over an offense that was among the nation’s worst last year, but that may be boosted slightly by Weis’ offensive experience.
