Orange Bowl 2012: DeAndre Hopkins Recovering After Car Accident Injury

Clemson receiver DeAndre Hopkins is all right after getting in a car wreck Tuesday, but his status for the Orange Bowl is undetermined.

With one Clemson Tigers wide receiver already facing a brief eligibility scare, bad news surrounding the Tigers' second-ranked receiver won't be welcome in Clemson. The good news: DeAndre Hopkins is going to be OK after suffering a car accident Tuesday morning, the school announced in a statement.

Coach Dabo Swinney:

First of all, we are relieved that DeAndre is going to be all right. He is lucky. We are told he does not have any serious injuries and we hope to have him join us soon. Obviously, DeAndre is one of the main parts of our offense and this would be a big loss if he is not able to play. But, it is too soon to speculate one way or another on his status for the game eight days from now.

Hopkins has a “mild” concussion.

With 854 yards and 61 catches, Hopkins emerged as one of Tajh Boyd's favorite targets, surpassed by only Sammy Watkins.
