Next Tuesday, the Villanova Wildcats Board of Trustees will meet to vote on whether the school should accept the Big East Conference’s invitation. Conference commissioner John Marinatto will need to be informed beforehand of the school’s likely decision in advance, as there’s also a press conference scheduled for that same day.
Villanova Football Voting April 12 On FBS, Big East Jump
Villanova has been a member of the Colonial Athletic Association since the conference began in 2005, winning a 2009 national title. The program does have a history of top-level college football success — in days of yore, the Wildcats had a few streaks of ranked finishes in the ’30s and ’50s.
Most Nova fans are expecting the team to make the transition to the Big East, thereby giving the conference 10 football teams along with the newly acquired TCU. UCF and East Carolina are a few of the programs also rumored to be in consideration in the coming years.
