Texas safety Christian Scott was arrested for assault on Monday afternoon. Head coach Mack Brown suspended the senior defensive back, who started 10 games last year, indefinitely.
Christian Scott Reinstated To Texas Football After Misdemeanor Assault
Scott wasn’t able to practice during the suspension, and won’t be allowed to play in the Longhorns first three games. He is eligible to return Oct. 1 against Big 12 foe Iowa State.
Scott was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and two years’ deferred adjudication. He was facing Class A misdemeanor charges, which carry up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Being “recognized from a previous repossession” is never a good thing. Scott is still suspended from all activities as the Longhorns prepare for their 2011 campaign.

Mack Brown expressed disappointment in Scott’s arrest while suspending him and left the terms of his punishment open with the football season less than a month away.
Scott was expected to compete for the starting job at safety in fall camp after starting 10 games in 2010.
