Christian Scott Reinstated To Texas Football After Misdemeanor Assault

Texas safety Christian Scott has been reinstated to the Longhorns after pleading no contest to misdemeanor assault, according to the AP. Scott was arrested earlier this month after losing his cool when his car was repossessed. He was suspended indefinitely from the team Aug. 8.

Scott wasn’t able to practice during the suspension, and won’t be allowed to play in the Longhorns first three games. He is eligible to return Oct. 1 against Big 12 foe Iowa State.

“We’re disappointed any time one of our players makes a poor decision, and Christian understands he made a mistake,” (UT head coach Mack) Brown said. “He has taken responsibility, is accepting the consequences of his actions and has returned to the team.”

Scott was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and two years’ deferred adjudication. He was facing Class A misdemeanor charges, which carry up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
