Justin Hunter Injury: Tennessee Wideout Out For The Year With A Torn ACL

Wide Receiver Justin Hunter of the Tennessee Volunteers will miss the rest of the college football season with a torn ACL suffered during Saturday's loss to the Florida Gators. Hunter went down early in the contest, limping off the field while clutching his left leg. To no one's surprise, an MRI revealed that Hunter will not return in 2011.

Hunter, just a sophomore for the Volunteers, was in the midst of a promising start to the season. Through two games, the deep-threat had 16 catches for 302 yards and two touchdowns, matching his reception total for all of last season. He recorded just one catch for 12 yards against the Gators, however, leaving the Volunteers without another weapon to complement receiver Da'Rick Rogers.

Quarterback Tyler Bray struggled Saturday without Hunter, going 26-for-48 passing for 288 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

For more on Hunter and how his absence will impact the Vols with the rest of the conference slate coming up, head over to the SB Nation’s Tennessee blogf Rocky Top Talk.
