After two quarters with little action, business has suddenly picked up at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo. The UCF Knights drove the field for a touchdown, taking back the lead just minutes after UCF tied it up on a J.J. DiLuigi touchdown. The Knights’ lead was momentary, spanning just about 15 seconds -- the time it took Cody Hoffman to do his damange.
BYU Vs. UCF Score: Cody Hoffman Livens Things Up With Kickoff Return Touchdown
Hoffman fielded the ensuing kickoff at his own seven-yard-line, found a seam and broke free with nothing but daylight in front of him, outrunning the coverage for the touchdown. The kick-return score was the Cougars’ first in the last 158 games, a streak that’s lasted nearly 13 years -- the last occurred in Oct. of 1998.
Prior to the barrage of touchdowns, all had been quiet, but the Friday night matchup has taken a turn for the wildly entertaining. As the third quarter comes to a close, BYU and UCF are all knotted at 17, setting up a tight finish in Provo.
