2012 NFL Draft: Dolphins Still Unsure On Ryan Tannehill

While Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III continue to dominate conversations about the 2012 NFL Draft, Ryan Tannehill has emerged as the clear No. 3 quarterback during the past week. On Thursday, the former Texas A&M Aggies quarterback participated in his school's Pro Day. This was the first good look many scouts were able to get at the player, who was unable to attend the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis due to a stress fracture in his foot.

Representatives from 22 NFL teams came to watch Tannehill work out and most, if not all, came away impressed with his performance. Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald reports that Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland and coach Joe Philbin were among those in attendance on Thursday. The two men also took Tannehill out to dinner the night before. It is no secret that Miami desperately needs a quarterback for the coming season and hold the No. 8 overall selection in the draft.

The Cleveland Browns are also rumored to be interested in Tannehill and hold the No. 4 pick in the draft. Even if Tannehill remains on the board when it is Miami's turn to choose, the team remains undecided on which direction they will go.

The Dolphins aren’t sure if Tannehill will be available at No. 8, and as of Monday, a Dolphins official insisted the team had not yet decided whether they would draft him. If Cleveland doesn’t take him, it’s possible another team would trade above Miami to pick him.

Tannehill would likely be the best option for any team that needs a quarterback, but misses out on Luck or Griffin.
