Syracuse’s Dwight Freeney Inducted Into SB Nation College Football Hall of Fame

Anybody who sacks Michael Vick 4.5 times in a single game is either a Hall of Famer or having the game of their life -- or maybe a little of both. But it’s the former in Dwight Freeney’s case, one highlight from a career that set him apart as the first defensive lineman inducted into the SB Nation College Football Hall of Fame.

It wasn’t just Vick that Freeney terrorized during his four years in Upstate New York. The future first-round draft pick had 34 sacks in his career and forced 14 fumbles. He also logged 104 tackles. Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician has more.

Set school record with 17.5 sacks in senior season. 34 career sacks is No. 1 in school history. Dwight Freeney might be a quick selection to the real College Football Hall of Fame once he’s eligible, although you never quite know with them. But he’s already eligible for our Hall of Fame, and there’s no reason to wait.

Each community nominated five of its own for inclusion, with 10 of those nominees being inducted by our selection committee, which included reps from most FBS conferences.
