The two-way player might be all but dead in college football, but there are a couple of nominees on our list of defensive backs who showed it was still possible not that long ago. And the other nominees include a player who made a definitive mark in just two years and another who rallied a program to a major win.

This poll will stay open all weekend, with the full list of winners revealed Monday morning.

Champ Bailey, Georgia Bulldogs
It's hard to fit Bailey neatly into any box. Not only did he win the Bronko Nagurski Award in 1998, he also had 744 receiving yards and five touchdowns to go with his three interceptions. Bailey had eight career picks.

Fred Smoot, Mississippi St. Bulldogs
He played for the Bulldogs for two seasons -- and had 10 interceptions in his career, grabbing an All-American Award along the way.

Kenny Wheaton, Oregon Ducks
Wheaton had 11 interceptions in his career, including one returned for a touchdown -- a 97 yarder that sparked Oregon to the first Rose Bowl in 37 years.

Charles Woodson, Michigan Wolverines
First primarily defensive player to win the Heisman. Has 18 career interceptions and saw the field on offense, with three receiving touchdowns and two scoring runs.

The SB Nation College Football Hall of Fame is a summer project involving all of the network’s excellent college football blogs. Each community could nominate five of its own for inclusion, with 10 of those nominees being inducted by our selection committee, which included reps from most FBS conferences. The remaining 10 will be chosen by public vote Wednesday and Thursday.
