We finish with what some argue is the most important position on the field: Quarterback. We’ll give you the names and a very brief synopsis of their career, some of them drawing from the cases our bloggers sent us. You can do the rest. Politicking is encouraged.

We’ve got about all the variety you could want in this category: A quarterback from a middle-of-the-road BCS program, one from a midmajor, one from a national powerhouse and one from a Division I-AA team. And they’re all excellent to boot.

This poll will stay open all weekend, with the full list of winners revealed Monday morning. (Also: a word from the commish on players who didn't make the list.)

Drew Brees, Purdue Boilermakers
Passed for more than 11,000 yards in his final three seasons at Purdue. Led Boilermakers to Big Ten title in 2000. Totaled 102 touchdowns, 88 passing.

Ty Detmer, BYU Cougars
Won the Heisman in his junior season. Finished career with 15,031 yards and 121 touchdowns. Had a career 162.7 quarterback rating.

Tommie Frazier, Nebraska Cornhuskers
MVP of three national championship games. Heisman runner up in 1995. Set a school record with 5,476 yards of total offense. Ran or passed for 82 touchdowns.

Steve McNair, Alcorn St. Braves
Passed for 14,496 yards and 119 touchdowns. Rushed for 2,327 yards. Finished third in the Heisman despite playing for a Division I-AA team.

Previously inducted QB: Vince Young, Texas.

The SB Nation College Football Hall of Fame is a summer project involving all of the network’s excellent college football blogs. Each community could nominate five of its own for inclusion, with 10 of those nominees being inducted by our selection committee, which included reps from most FBS conferences. The remaining 10 will be chosen by public vote Wednesday and Thursday.
