David Ash To Be Texas Starting Quarterback, According To Report

While most of the information coming out of Texas football's fall scrimmages indicated that David Ash and Case McCoy would continue splitting snaps with the first team, one report suggests that the Texas QB "battle" has been resolved for the time being:

After going 13-12 over the last two seasons, the Longhorns are expected to return to national relevance in 2012 if they can get consistent play from the QB position, which eluded them in 2011, when Ash was a true freshman and McCoy a true sophomore.

The 6'3 225 Ash threw for 1,068 yards, 4 TDs and 8 INTs in 2011 while completing 57% of his passes. He won't be expected to be Vince Young or Colt McCoy, but he'll need to significantly improve on those stats in 2012 to keep Case on the bench.
