UMass Vs. Michigan Final Score: Wolverines Dominate In 63-13 Win

The Michigan Wolverines simply dominated the University of Massachusetts Minutemen on Saturday.

No. 17 Michigan didn’t even consider field goals en route to nine touchdowns in their 63-13 victory. With the win, they improved to 2-1 on this young season and have a nice confidence booster to boot.

Mike Wegzyn threw for 141 yards and no touchdowns, while Michigan's Denard Robinson put up three touchdown strikes through the air to go along with his 291 yards. Fitzgerald Toussaint was effective on the ground, with 85 yards off of 15 carries and a touchdown of his own. Vincent Smith and Justice Hayes also picked up rushing touchdowns (Smith had two of them) on just six carries between them.

Robinson managed to find nine separate receiving targets over the course of the game, with Drew Dileo being the standout with 91 yards off of three receptions. Michael Cox managed 76 rushing yards for UMass, but was very clearly over-matched, as it came off of 18 carries.

Box Score Hero: This game was all Robinson, who managed to put up 291 yards through the air along with three passing touchdowns, while adding 105 rushing yards with one score on the ground. One of many highlight-reel days for the dual-threat quarterback.

Rankings Ramifications: Michigan is already in a solid place at No. 17, but moving up would require another team above them to have a poor outing, as UMass isn’t exactly a star-studded opponent.

But Did They Cover? Michigan was favored to win by around 45 points by most, so they covered just fine. If you also happened to bet the over, which was around 56 points, you also would have done well.

Next Week’s Schedule: Michigan will hit the road and take on No. 20 Notre Dame next Saturday, while UMass will take on a relatively easier opponent in Miami (OH) on the road.
