Bo Pelini On Medical Issue: ‘Everything Is Fine’

Despite leaving in an ambulance during halftime of Nebraska’s 42-13 win over Arkansas State, Cornhuskers head coach Bo Pelini downplayed the seriousness of the situation, telling everyone he is fine in a statement on Saturday.

“Everything is fine,” Pelini said. “They ran some precautionary tests on me and everything checked out just fine. I plan to be back at work tomorrow. I’m proud of our team and coaching staff for the way they responded this afternoon.”

During an interview just before heading into the tunnel at the conclusion of the first half, Pelini told an ESPN2 sideline reporter that he wasn’t feeling very well.

Defensive coordinator John Papuchis filled in as the head coach for the second half and told reporters after the game that he became concerned about Pelini when he noticed he wasn’t as vocal on the sideline during the second quarter.

“My initial reaction was more as a friend than a business colleague so I kind of had to compose myself for a second,” Papuchis told The Lincoln Journal Star after the game.

Nebraska will host Idaho State in their next game on Saturday, Sept. 22.
