Virginia Tech was ranked to begin the season, but that is no longer the case after their letdown against Pittsburgh. Logan Thomas has some decent numbers at quarterback with 707 passing yards and five touchdowns, but three interceptions and questionable decision-making at times has cost his team in pressure situations. The Hokies aren’t using their backs very often, with Michael Holmes leading the team with 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Bowling Green, which enters the game with a record of 1-2, has received shaky quarterback play from Matt Schilz. He has completed 60 percent of his passes this season, but just one touchdown and three interceptions are a cause for concern. Look for sophomore tailback Anthon Samuel to carry the load early and often for the Falcons.
Game time, TV channel: 12 p.m. ET, ESPNU
Point spread: The Hokies opened as 22-point favorites. The line has dropped to 19½.
