N.C. State Starter C.J. Wilson Suspended 3 More Games

C.J. Wilson has been suspended four games by the NCAA for academic violations.

Presswire

North Carolina State cornerback C.J. Wilson has been suspended four games by the NCAA for academic violations, according to head coach Tom O’Brien on Monday.

Despite graduating in Dec. of 2011, Wilson was required under NCAA rules to take 12 credit hours in the spring semester (only having to pass six of them) but failed to do so. After completing 12 credit hours over summer session, Wilson has regained eligibility for the team’s final eight games of the season.

A three-year starter, Wilson has recorded three interceptions (all of which were returned for touchdowns) and 95 tackles in 29 career starts while at North Carolina. Having already missed the team’s opener against Tennessee, he will be eligible to return to action on Sept. 29 when the Wolfpack challenge Miami University at Sun Life Stadium.
