Purdue pro day 2013 results: Kawann Short sits, Josh Johnson feels better

Kawann Short is still nagged by a hamstring injury that kept him from performing on Purdue’s pro day, while third-day cornerback prospect Josh Johnson feels he improved on his performance at the NFL Combine.

The biggest prospect for Purdue wasn't able to go for his Pro Day, as Kawann Short remained injured, but late-round prospect Josh Johnson reportedly had a decent day while a few fringe prospects performed as well.

Short, a likely first-round draft pick, had a hamstring injury, which had also kept him out of the combine, where he impressed scouts by weighing in at under 300 pounds for the first time since middle school. Short will work out for scouts in private on March 25.

Johnson had a decent day in Indianapolis, running a 4.65 40-yard dash, but apparently improved on that at his Pro Day:

The all-Big Ten second-team cornerback is projected as a fifth-to-sixth round pick after picking off three passes as a senior.

The rest of the guys Purdue had to show off likely aren’t going to get drafted, but still had nice days.

Shavers went uninvited to the combine and is well off the radar of most NFL teams, but 4.38 is an unreal 40 time - although it is unofficial. It could help him on the undrafted free agent market.

As that tweet notes, Robert Marve’s day was mainly for inspiration. The 24-year-old Miami transfer tore his ACL twice at Purdue and eventually had to have it removed. Although 4.65 is a great time for a quarterback, running in a straight line isn’t the issue for a guy who doesn’t have an ACL. It’s nice to see that Marve feels healthy, but he’s not going to be selected in April.
