Pro day results 2013: UCLA, Oklahoma State held workouts Tuesday

UCLA’s Datone Jones and Oklahoma State’s Joseph Randle were among the players that looked to impress scouts on Tuesday.

While the Florida and Kansas State pro days drew the attention and headlines for Tuesday, several other schools caught the eyes of scouts, including UCLA and Oklahoma State, along with Delaware State, Jacksonville State, Lehigh, Monmouth, Portland State, Samford, Toledo, Towson and Tulane.

Among the top players was UCLA's Datone Jones, the 36th-best prospect according to SB Nation's Dan Kadar, a scheme-diverse defensive end that drew many praises during his week at the 2013 Senior Bowl. On Tuesday, he joined teammates Johnathan Franklin, Jeff Baca and others at the UCLA Pro Day. The Bruins, however, closed the event to the public and media, so hopefully everyone preformed well.

Along with Franklin, Oklahoma State's Joseph Randle is considered to be one of the better running backs of the 2013 NFL Draft class and is listed as Kadar's 78th-best prospect. Randle and Sharp took to the field at Oklahoma State on Tuesday to impress scouts.

Randle used the pro day to improve his ever-important 40-yard dash time, as Gina Mizell of The Oklahoman reports that he clocked in at 4.51 seconds on Tuesday, besting his official NFL Combine time of 4.63 seconds.

While the smaller schools didn’t have any big name prospects, or any that appeared on Kadar’s list of the top 200 prospects, Tulane quarterback Ryan Griffin drew some eyes as he looked to prove that he is worth a late-round draft pick as a developmental prospect.

Elsewhere, members of the Samford Bulldogs worked out for 13 NFL team personnel Tuesday, according to a report from CBS42.com in Birmingham. Those players included defensive lineman Nicholas Williams, safety Alvin Hines II and wide receiver Riley Hawkins.
