NFL pro days 2013: Duke, Iowa among schools hosting workouts Monday

The NFL pro day circuit rolls on with Iowa, Duke, Tennessee State and Stephen F. Austin on Monday.

The NFL pro day circuit is slowly coming to an end, but there are still plenty of big name schools and potential NFL Draft day risers left to show off in front of scouts. On Friday, players from Duke, Iowa, Tennessee State and Stephen F. Austin will get the chance to prove their mettle.

Of those four programs, Iowa appears to have the most potential NFL prospects. Quarterback James Vandenberg will look to improve on his performance at the NFL Combine. He will need a stellar performance in passing drills if he is going to make a rise up draft boards. He currently ranks as SB Nation's No. 20 quarterback in the 2013 NFL Draft. Wide receiver Keenan Davis, running back Micah Hyde and center James Ferentz are also expected to work out, and could impress scouts. None of the three participated at the Combine.

For Duke, quarterback Sean Renfree and wide receiver Conner Vernon appear to have the best chance at a late-round selection in April. Vernon tested well in Indianapolis, except for a 4.68 in the 40-yard dash that he will surely look to improve.

Tennessee State sent offensive tackle Roger Gaines to Indianapolis. If he can improve his numbers -- 5.24 in the 40, 28 reps in the bench press, 23-inch vertical -- a late round pick for the 334-pounder certainly is not out of the question. Stephen F. Austin did not have any Combine participants, but defensive end Willie Jefferson, wide receiver Cordell Roberson and defensive back Josh Aubrey were All-Southland selections last season.
