One of the biggest disappointments at the 2013 NFL Combine was the performance put on by Mississippi State cornerback Johnthan Banks. The All-American defensive back finished the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds, causing many to believe that he wasn't physically gifted enough to be an elite cornerback in the NFL. Some even felt after the combine that he could be drafted after his teammate and fellow cornerback, Darius Slay, who had a much better showing.

Unofficial reports have cornerback Johnthan Banks improving his 40 time by as much as a full tenth of a second at Mississippi State’s Pro Day on Wednesday. Find out who else performed well for the Bulldogs.

On Wednesday, Banks had a chance to improve upon his 40 time and prove that he has what it takes to cover the best receivers in the NFL. According to several reports, he ran in the 4.5-second range, and may have ran as fast as 4.51 seconds. Banks also improved his broad jump by an inch, jumping 10’6”. All in all, the cornerback likely improved his draft stock in front of 25 NFL teams in attendance.

Another player that had plenty to prove on Wednesday was wide receiver Chad Bumphis, a smaller player that was very productive with the Bulldogs, but didn't intrigue scouts enough to earn a combine invite. He reportedly ran a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash.
Slay did not run at Mississippi State’s Pro Day, opting to let his 4.36 in Indianapolis stand as is. The Bulldogs’ third Combine participant, defensive lineman Josh Boyd, did run, however. He reportedly improved his 40 time to 4.98 seconds, 0.16 seconds faster than his time in Indy. Here’s video of the big man show off a strong finish to the line, courtesy of @mstateFB:
