While still early in the process, the slate of pro days is definitely in full swing and continued on Wednesday with opportunities for prospects from several schools to impress scouts, coaches and talent evaluators. With all eyes on the performances at the Wisconsin and Mississippi State pro days, players from Alabama A&M, Duquesne, Eastern Washington, Kent State, North Alabama, Northern Arizona, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Texas Tech and West Texas A&M were all clawing for recognition.
NFL Draft Pro Day results: Ray Graham’s draft stock still hazy
One thing we do know: Ray Graham ran the 40-yard dash at Pitt’s Pro Day on Wednesday. Whether he improved on the 4.8 he ran at the NFL Combine is still unclear, however.
Pittsburgh running back Ray Graham had a lot to prove after running a 4.8 in the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis. Given the poor time, it's somewhat odd that he left his Pro Day on Wednesday saying that he wasn't given his time. It's unclear whether or not that's good news. Graham did say that his run felt better than it did at the Combine. He also improved his vertical leap by an inch, jumping 32 inches.
Among the most notable small school players was Kent State offensive lineman Brian Winters. The 6'4, 320-pounder earned an invite to the Senior Bowl and was set to perform at the 2013 NFL Combine before a pectoral injury suffered during the bench press removed him from all other drills. Despite the injury, he took the field on Wednesday and ran well. Unofficially, he clocked in at 5.2 seconds in the 40-yard dash, and ran perhaps even more impressive 4.7-second shuttle time. Winters did not take part in the bench press.
South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels also performed Wednesday. Daniels' season ended prematurely when he broke his ankle in November. He was healthy enough to take part in every drill Wednesday, however. Numbers were hard to come by, but he did reportedly put up a respectable 20 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press. There is also photographic evidence that he participated in the 40-yard dash.
