Stevan Ridley injury: Patriots RB exits after brutal hit

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley exits the game after a brutal hit.

New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley took a brutal hit from Baltimore Ravens safety Bernard Pollard. The play resulted in a turnover, picked up by the visiting Ravens.

Ridley had to leave the game following the hit.

The Ravens were able to capitalize on the turnover, scoring 21 answered, now leading the Patriots. Even worse news is that Ridley is too shaken up to return. He has been their lead man in 2012, but now the team will have to count on Shane Vereen and Danny Woodhead to step up.

New England will have to lean on the passing attack to climb back into this game anyway.

Unfortunately, having Ridley as a threat out of the backfield is something they will be missing. The Patriots will take over on offense with 11 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, down two scores. It will be up to Tom Brady to engineer some late game magic in order to advance to his sixth Super Bowl.
