While it was reported earlier on Monday that Brett Favre apologized to his Vikings teammates for causing a distraction by being the subject of a story that allegedly has him sending obscene photos to a former Jets sideline reporter, some illuminating details have surfaced.
Ryan Longwell Said Brett Favre Was Crying During Apology To Team
Teammate Ryan Longwell, one of the three Vikings players who went to Mississippi to get Favre to return prior to this season, told ESPN’s Michelle Tafoya that Favre was crying when he addressed the team earlier Monday and said his statement was similar to the one Favre gave on the day after his father died in December 2003. Longwell was then teammates with Favre on the Packers and the team went on to beat the Oakland Raiders in that now classic Monday Night Football game.
“I need you guys to carry me tonight,” Favre said to the team, according to Longwell. “I’m ready to go out there and give it my best, but I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
