Vikings Vs. Jets: Minnesota Opens With Bizarre (And Illegal) Randy Moss Pass To Brett Favre
In what was an initial playcall not anticipated by many on their opening possession, or any for that matter, Brett Favre handed off to Percy Harvin who gave the ball to Randy Moss on what appeared to be a reverse.
When the other side of the field was bottled up, Moss lobbed the ball to Brett Favre, who was about 10 yards down the field. Favre caught the ball and stumbled out of bounds. However, since Favre was an ineligible receiver on the play, the Vikings were penalized five yards.
The rest of the Vikings’ first possession was similarly marked with penalties. They were flagged two more time before ending the possession with a three and out. Minnesota wasted a golden opportunity as the opening kickoff went out of bounds, giving the Vikings the ball at their own 40.
