Now that the news is out regarding Randy Moss being released by the Vikings, the question becomes: Why?
Brad Childress Didn’t Tell Players Why Randy Moss Was Released
The Vikings players aren't saying much on the topic. Vikings LB Ben Leber tells the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that Childress informed the team of Moss's release during a meeting but didn't specify the reason.
“No reason, really, [he] just wanted to give everybody a heads-up and say this is what’s going on, and that’s it,” Leber said. “He didn’t really dive into any details, and just said that’s what were going to go with.”
Apparently the Vikings weren’t thrilled with Moss. We’re not sure of the specifics -- and apparently neither is Ben Leber -- but Moss’s post-game rant when he expressed how much he loved New England at multiple points likely didn’t help. There are a lot of things the Vikings would tolerate with Moss if they were winning. But sitting in the middle of a disappointing season maybe Moss was doing more damage than good in Minnesota.
It’ll be interesting to note how the rest of the Vikings react to the news. When the Patriots traded him you saw plenty of Patriots players along with Bill Belichick talk about how great he was. Will they do the same in Minnesota now that he’s gone?
