Al Harris To Dolphins: Former Green Bay Packers CB Signs With Miami

The Miami Dolphins have a new cornerback: Al Harris.

The Green Bay Packers released Harris on Monday and he was placed on waivers the following day. No one claimed him and his agent, Jack Bechta, confirms to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network that he will be signing with the Dolphins.

Last November Harris suffered a season-ending knee injury that kept him sidelined to this point. The Packers had him on the PUP list to start the season but his agent says he’s been practicing for several weeks and is in shape to play. That the Dolphins signed him is evidence of that.

Harris now leaves one of the NFC’s best teams for a 4-4 Miami team that’s lost four of its last six games. The Dolphins rank 13th in passing yards given up so Harris will be expected to help shore that up a little bit.

Harris’ deal is for one-year and, at his age, that probably makes the most sense. If he’s still got it -- and there are indications that he does -- the Dolphins could consider signing him next year.

Check out our Miami Dolphins blog, The Phinsider, for more on the Al Harris signing.
