Fans Like Thursday Night Football TV Schedule, But Do Players?

The Atlanta Falcons will host the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football marking the beginning of the NFL Network TV schedule. I think most fans love the Thursday night schedule because who doesn’t like another night of football?

Well, the players don’t like Thursday night games. At least Ravens LB Ray Lewis says they don’t.

“It goes back to the 18-game schedule,” Lewis said. “You have to ask yourself a real question when you schedule games like this: Who does it help? Because it doesn’t help the players. That turnaround is just too quick. You go from playing a physical game on Sunday and you have less than four days before you have to physically get back up again. It takes a week for guys to really heal.”

It becomes difficult later into the season when you need those few extra days to heal from injuries. Unfortunately for the players the NFL wants to get them into primetime as much as possible because the NFL sells like nothing else.

The game will air on NFL Network tonight at 8:20 p.m.
