The New England Patriots have opened up an early 7-0 lead on the Indianapolis Colts thanks to a key mistake by Peyton Manning.
Week 11 NFL, Patriots Vs. Colts: Peyton Manning INT Sets Up Wes Welker TD
On the opening drive of the ball game, Manning floated a pass over the middle intended for undrafted rookie receiver Blair White. Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather made the easy interception, giving Tom Brady the football at Indy’s 32-yard line.
Four plays later, Brady connected with Wes Welker down the seam for a 22-yard touchdown. Just like that, the Patriots - coming off a 39-26 road beat-down of the Pittsburgh Steelers - have a seven-spot in front of the Colts.
Manning and the Colts have since re-gained possession, and Peyton has thrown several more iffy passes that could have been intercepted by a rapidly-developing, young Patriots defense. This is most definitely a shaky start for the Colts in Foxboro.
