The New England Patriots have extended their lead over the Indianapolis Colts to 28-14, thanks mostly to a drive’s worth of excellent work from scat back Danny Woodhead.
Week 11 NFL, Patriots Vs. Colts: Danny Woodhead Scampers For 36-Yard TD
For the game, Woodhead has 60 rushing yards on five carries - stats that include the 36-yard touchdown rush that gave the Patriots their 14-point lead. Woodhead has added four receptions for a further 21 yards. It’s almost unfair to point out that the Pats nabbed Woodhead off the waiver wire earlier this year - kind of like you did in fantasy football, except with much higher stakes.
Woodhead then made a terrific tackle on the ensuing kickoff, bringing about plenty of superlatives relating to Woodhead’s grit and such.
Peyton Manning has since thrown an interception to rookie cornerback Devin McCourty. New England has a commanding lead and the ball late in the third quarter, and could be ready to put this game on ice.
