Peyton Manning threw his second interception of the game late in the third quarter, and the New England Patriots capitalized with a 25-yard Shayne Graham field goal to extend their lead over the Indianapolis Colts to 31-14. Ten minutes remain in the fourth quarter.
Week 11 NFL, Patriots Vs. Colts: Can Peyton Manning Complete Improbable Comeback Again?
The situation is rather similar to the 2009 meeting between these two clubs, when the Patriots led the Colts 31-14 in the fourth quarter of a November 15 game in Indianapolis. Manning, of course, led the Colts to three consecutive scores in that game - two of them touchdown passes - in leading Indianapolis from behind to a thrilling 35-34 home victory. That game is famous for Bill Belichick’s decision to go for it on 4th & 2 deep in Colts territory; Kevin Faulk was stopped short, and Manning hit Reggie Wayne for the game-winning points on the ensuing possession.
Manning gets that opportunity again this evening - to lead an improbable comeback. This time he’ll be making the attempt on the road, at Gillette Stadium.
