Jenn Sterger’s Manager And Brett Favre’s Agent Accuse Each Other Of Seeking Payments

Phil Reese, the manager for Jenn Sterger, the former New York Jets game emcee who allegedly received inappropriate text messages and photos from Brett Favre, on Tuesday claimed that Favre’s agent had contacted him asking whether Reese would accept hush money.

Bus Cook, the agent for Favre, countered that representatives for Sterger had, in fact, contacted him seeking payment. Cook maintains that Sterger’s motivations in the scandal remain financially related.

Reese told the Associated Press that he contacted Cook in October to inform him of the impending report from Deadspin about the transmission of the text messages and photos. Reese said his motivation was only to compare notes on an incident that could be potentially damaging to both of their clients.

“I was concerned because I didn’t know exactly what was going to be coming out, and I knew that it wasn’t going to be good for everyone involved,” Reese told the AP in a phone interview. “He asked me if there was a specific figure in mind that could make this go away. I told him, ‘I wish it were that easy, but there’s no putting the toothpaste back in the tube.’”

Cook, in a statement, denied that he intended to offer money for Sterger’s silence. Sterger talked with NFL investigators on Nov. 11, more than a month after the report first appeared on Deadspin on Oct. 7. Reese has said the delay was related to logistical matters rather than seeking money.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the AP on Tuesday that the league has nothing to report on the investigation.
