The Detroit Lions are surprising some people on Thanksgiving against the New England Patriots. Entering halftime, Detroit is holding onto a 17-10 lead over New England.
Patriots Vs. Lions: Detroit Enters Halftime With 17-10 Lead Over New England
The Patriots kicked things off with a first quarter field goal only to be followed by 14 unanswered points from Detroit. QB Shaun Hill hit WR Calvin Johnson for a 19-yard touchdown pass and RB Maurice Morris later added a one-yard touchdown run to give the Lions a 14-3 lead. New England responded with a 10-play, 83-yard drive that resulted in a RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis 15-yard touchdown run to make it 14-10 before Lions K Dave Rayner added a field goal at the end of the first half making it 17-10.
QB Tom Brady has been getting hit hard but still looks sharp completing 10-of-13 passes for 110 yards and no touchdown passes in the first half. Other than the Patriots, the Lions are the only team against whom Brady has not thrown a touchdown pass. Green-Ellis leads the Patriots with 39 yards rushing on seven carries while WR Wes Welker leads all Pats receivers with four receptions for 47 yards.
Hill has completed 15-of-22 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown pas. Morris has added 27 yards rushing while WR Nate Burleson leads Detroit receivers with 35 yards.
The Lions haven’t won a Thanksgiving day game since 2003 but they’re making a run to end that streak. Check out Pats Pulpit and Pride of Detroit for more on the game.
