Maybe the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals should’ve skipped the turkey today. With nine minutes left in the half, the Jets got on the board with a field goal after stalling deep in Bengals’ territory. Both teams are off to a slow start, perhaps due to tryptophan-induced sluggishness.
Bengals Vs. Jets: Jets On The Board With A Field Goal
Outside of one big play on the drive — Dustin Keller’s 21-yard catch with a 15-yard facemask tacked on — it was slow going for the Jets. LaDanian Tomlinson carried the ball five times for 28 yards on the scoring drive, bumping his total for the day up to 38 yards. Mark Sanchez has been efficient, completing eight of 10 passes for 84 yards thus far. Needing eight yards on third down from the Bengals’ 10, Sanchez got five, hitting Braylon Edwards for a short pickup and forcing a Nick Folk field goal. The 27-yard kick was good, giving the Jets a 3-0 lead.
Here’s to hoping these two teams wake up at halftime and snap out of their Thanksgiving comas.
