In one of the most exciting games we've seen this year the Baltimore Ravens allowed the Houston Texans to comeback and push them to overtime before the Ravens' Josh Wilson picked off a Matt Schaub pass and brought it back for a touchdown. That gave Baltimore the win, a 9-4 record and put them in a tie with the New York Jets in the AFC wildcard race.
NFL Playoff Picture: Ravens Jump Jets In AFC Wildcard Race
Here's how the NFL playoff picture is shaking out right now. There are four division leaders at this point and they are seeded in this order starting with No. 1: New England Patriots (11-2), Pittsburgh Steelers (10-2), Kansas City Chiefs (8-5) and Jacksonville Jaguars (8-5).
That leaves two wildcards. Before Monday night’s game, the Jets held the fifth overall playoff spot and top wildcard at 9-4. Now that the Ravens have won, they actually leapfrog the Jets because they own the tiebreaker (head-to-head matchup). So the Ravens are now the fifth seed while the Jets are the sixth seed.
That chances the matchups we’d see if the playoffs started today. That now means the Jets would be traveling to Kansas City to play the Chiefs and the Ravens would travel to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars.
Though there's plenty that can change, it's looking the Jets and Ravens are the most likely duo to wrap up the two wildcard spots. Other playoff question marks include whether the Jaguars can hold off the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South and whether the Chiefs can win the AFC West over the San Diego Chargers.
