    Terrell Owens Out For Season With Torn Meniscus, Will Try To Play In 2011

    Terrell Owens is officially out for the season.

    That’s what the Cincinnati Bengals’ team Twitter page tweets this afternoon after T.O. left today’s game against the Browns with an apparent knee injury. That injury has since been diagnosed as a torn meniscus, and it will keep him out of the Bengals’ last two games this season.

    Terrell Owens Leaves Game With Knee Injury, Could Be Out For Season

    Hearing “significant” injury for Terrell Owens. Done for day, probably season. (Knee)If Owens is truly done for the season — and that would make sense, considering the Bengals’ 2-11 record — then Owens might also be done for his career. Owens is 37 and in his 15th NFL season, but had been resurgent this year, nearing 1,000 yards receiving and catching nine touchdowns for the Bengals. He’s certainly more than old enough in NFL years to be seriously considering retirement every offseason, but he’s come back from injury and been productive before.

    A “significant” injury to his knee, though, might make a comeback for a 16th year an impossibility. Owens has been a physical marvel for the entirety of his career, to be fair, but 38-year-olds with knee problems and personal histories like Owens’ don’t tend to catch on with NFL teams. Owens might be left out in the cold in 2011, forcing him into retirement whether he wants it or not.
