Terrell Owens Leaves Game With Knee Injury, Could Be Out For Season
Owens went down with a knee injury early in the Bengals' game against the Browns today, and left the game. Will Carroll tweets that he's hearing the injury is "significant":
Hearing “significant” injury for Terrell Owens. Done for day, probably season. (Knee)If Owens is truly done for the season — and that would make sense, considering the Bengals’ 2-11 record — then Owens might also be done for his career. Owens is 37 and in his 15th NFL season, but had been resurgent this year, nearing 1,000 yards receiving and catching nine touchdowns for the Bengals. He’s certainly more than old enough in NFL years to be seriously considering retirement every offseason, but he’s come back from injury and been productive before.
A “significant” injury to his knee, though, might make a comeback for a 16th year an impossibility. Owens has been a physical marvel for the entirety of his career, to be fair, but 38-year-olds with knee problems and personal histories like Owens’ don’t tend to catch on with NFL teams. Owens might be left out in the cold in 2011, forcing him into retirement whether he wants it or not.
If that happens, we’ll have the news of it in this StoryStream.
