Michael Oher, of the Baltimore Ravens and "The Blind Side" fame, is the latest athlete snared in the NFL's quest to wipe the scourge of unauthorized tweeting out of the game. Oher was found to have updated his Twitter account during Sunday's game -- I know, I know, it's so disappointing -- despite his efforts to cover up his wrongdoing by deleting the message. But an enterprising reporter kept it around so that the world can see what the NFL found worthy of a $5,000 fine.
Michael Oher Tells Everyone He’s OK, Loses $5,000
This is what Michael Oher had to say in Tweet: 'I'm good people have to thank the man above for this one! Will be ready for pitt next week!
That’s right -- Michael Oher said HE WAS GOOD! On Twitter! During a game! Oh, the humanity!
Upon finding out that the tweet was a violation of NFL policy, Oher conceded he was likely to get fined. But he didn’t seem overly concerned by the possibility.
“I didn’t realize it at the time,” Oher said of the NFL’s policy. “I was just letting mainly my family and friends know that I was OK. Letting them know that I was OK was way more important than getting a fine.”
Not in this league, sir. Roger Goodell will cure you of your social media scofflawery. Because it’s not like he has a looming lockout to defuse or anything.
