New England Patriots RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis banged into the end zone from one yard out to give the Pats their biggest lead over the New York Jets of the season. New England faced a third-and-long on New York’s 37, when QB Tom Brady lobbed a pass into the end zone that resulted in very obvious pass interference by safety Eric Smith on TE Rob Gronkowski.
Jets Vs. Patriots Score: New England Touchdown Extends First Quarter Lead
The drive covered 57 yards in six plays. The Pats have now outgained the Jets 73 yards to 39, though counting penalty yardage would increase that leading figure to 109. Jets QB Mark Sanchez is two of five for 13 yards, with a 14-yard run by RB Ladainian Tomlinson providing much of New York’s offense.
On the previous drive, the Jets converted a fourth-down conversion near midfield after what appeared to be a time-buying challenge by coach Rex Ryan. They converted, but kicker Nick Folk missed very, very wide left from 53 yards out, missing even the field goal net behind the goal posts. The decent field position set up New England’s touchdown nicely.
