A mighty 13-yard punt off the non-punty part of Steve Weatherford’s foot gave the Pats great field position near midfield, with a pair of successful blitzes forcing New England into third and 22. Safety James Ihedigbo sacked Brady on first down, and avoiding the rush on second down helped cause Brady to misfire on second.
Jets Vs. Patriots Score: Tom Brady To Deion Branch, New England Up 17-0
On third down he nearly converted with a 19-yard completion over the middle to WR Deion Branch. Bill Belichick elected to go for it on fourth and three — the Jets again blitzed, but Brady found Branch slipping right behind the blitz for a 25-yard catch-and-run.
The Jets have only three first downs to New England’s seven, failing to string them together as well. Playing aggressive on both offense and defense isn’t working for them, with QB Mark Sanchez’ no-huddle offense stalling in a very loud Gillette Stadium and the blitz only working a pair of times.
This is the biggest deficit the Jets have faced all year.
