Lawrence Taylor Wants Rape Case Dismissed

Last May former Giants great Lawrence Taylor was arrested on sexual assault charges and in a June court appearance pleaded not guilty to all the charges. He appeared in court on Tuesday to plead with a judge to dismiss the case.

Taylor’s defense is that the arrest violated his rights.

Taylor’s attorney recently filed a motion claiming that the arrest violated his client’s rights, claiming that he was asleep when police detained him without a warrant. Law enforcement officials have not commented.

Taylor’s legal team has argued from the start that he’s innocent of the charges.

“My client did not have sex with anybody,” Taylor’s lawyer, Arthur Aidala had said following his arrest. “Lawrence Taylor did not rape anybody.”

His next appearance comes on Dec. 23.
