Lawrence Taylor Sentenced To Probation, Sex Offender Status

Former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor has been given the lowest-grade sex offender status on Tuesday following his March 22 sexual misconduct sentencing. Judge William Kelly had delayed this portion of Taylor’s sentencing, but three weeks later Taylor has been designated as a Level 1 sex offender. As a result, he will not have his photo published in an online registry for such offenders.

Judge Kelly decided on Level 1 status because he believed that Taylor would not find himself in a similar situation. Had Kelly agreed with the prosecution and gone with a Level 2 status, that would have required Taylor’s picture to be added to the registry. However, given Taylor’s public profile and the amount of attention already given to this trial, Kelly believed that there was little difference between the two levels and went with the lower one.

Former New York Giants LB Lawrence Taylor has been sentenced to six years probation, according to the Associated Press. In January, Taylor plead guilty to sexual misconduct and having sex with an underage prostitute. Taylor will also be a registered sex offender.

This nearly wraps up an incident that began last May when it was reported Taylor was found having sex with an underaged prostitute. Taylor said he didn’t know she was underaged. In January, he plead guilty to two charges -- both misdemeanors.

Taylor’s legal team has argued from the start that he’s innocent of the charges.

He appeared in Rockland County Courthouse on Thursday for what some thought was to strike a plea deal. Not the case, his lawyer says.

Taylor didn’t have a comment for reporters on the way out and his next court date is Dec. 7. It appears he’s headed for trial. The Rockland DA said Wednesday that they have discussed a six-month jail sentence and 10 years probation in a plea deal.

Lawrence Taylor has entered a plea of not guilty on charges files against him. Several weeks ago, Taylor was indicted by a New York grand jury on charges of rape, criminal sexual act and sexual abuse as well as endangering the welfare of a child and patronizing a prostitute.

ESPN is now reporting Taylor has been indicted by a New York grand jury on charges of rape, criminal sexual act and sexual abuse as well as endangering the welfare of a child and patronizing a prostitute.

The woman who was allegedly raped (non-forcibly) by Lawrence Taylor reportedly told him she was 19. The woman is actually 16, thus the statutory rape charges against LT.

The police are now investigating the pimp that setup up the meeting between LT and the 16-year old girl.

It’s official. Lawrence Taylor has been charged with third-degree rape. That’s a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

Police announced the news at a press conference on Thursday afternoon. They also said he is being charged with third-degree patronizing of a prostitute, which is a misdemeanor. An earlier report alleged Taylor paid $300 to have sex with the 16-year old girl.

Lawrence Taylor’s wife is proclaiming her husband’s innocence calling allegations that he raped a 16-year old girl a “setup.” Now his lawyer has spoken publicly about the situation.

Meanwhile, TMZ has a few more details on the incident that ended in a New York hotel room.

LoHud.com has more details on the alleged victim in the Lawrence Taylor rape case. According to authorities, the 15-year-old was a runaway from New York City who was brought to Taylor’s hotel room by a pimp. She was apparently punched in the face, and was treated at a hospital for her injuries. There is no word on whether Taylor is believed to have punched her, or if it was the pimp.

Third degree rape in New York is a class E felony, which carries with it a minimum sentence of three years, and a maximum of four.
