NFL Playoffs, Seahawks Vs. Bears: John Carlson Injured As Head Hits Soldier Field Turf

Seahawks tight end John Carlson has left today’s Seahawks-Bears game with a head injury.

The Seahawks tweet that Carlson’s injury, which required him to be removed from the field on a stretcher, was not as bad as it looked.

INJURY UPDATE: Carlson, a head injury with feeling in his extremities, the stretcher was only pre-cautionary.That’s great news, because watching Carlson’s head bounce off the sideline was grisly.

It’s cold in Chicago today, and the Soldier Field turf is likely about as comfortable as icy concrete; Carlson hit the ground face first after being hit while jumping on a first quarter reception. He stayed down for several minutes — long enough for FOX to go to breaks on its broadcasts with the soft piano jazz it uses for injuries twice — and could have been concussed, or worse, on the play.

We’ll keep you updated on Carlson’s condition as the game progresses. It seems highly unlikely he will return to the game.
