NFL Playoffs: Jay Cutler, Bears Show Their Potential Against Seahawks

Sunday’s game between the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks was going to go one of two ways. The Bears come out and dominate from the get-go or Jay Cutler throws a couple of picks as the Bears offense struggles and allows Seattle to stay in the game.

It went for the former. The Bears jumped out to a 21-0 lead early in the first half and never looked back as Seattle tacked on a couple of late touchdowns when the game was out of reach. SB Nation’s Windy City Gridiron said the Bears played up to their potential in the Seahawks game.

The Bears played up to their potential and beyond in every phase of the game today. Questions about Jay Cutler’s ability to lead this team in the playoffs seem to have been answered, with the young QB notching 4 TDs (2 passing, 2 rushing). The defense stepped up, keeping the Seahawks from finding any sort of rhythm. Corey Graham made two spectacular special teams plays to pin Seattle within the five yard line, one of them at the goal line itself.

The Bears did a lot of things right. Then again, the Bears won’t be playing the Seahawks in the playoffs anymore. I think it’s safe to say there’s a gap between the Seahawks and Packers, who the Bears play next weekend. But this defense is playing well enough, along with Cutler, to compete with anyone.
