For the Seahawks, the dream, as they say, is dead.
Bears Respond To Seahawks Rally With Touchdown From Jay Cutler To Kellen Davis
The Bears added a fifth touchdown on the day — Jay Cutler’s fourth, and second through the air — on a Cutler throw to backup tight end Kellen Davis, and now lead the Seahawks in today’s NFC divisional round playoff game at Soldier Field.
Cutler’s been great all day, completing 15 of 27 throws for 274 yards and two touchdowns, and adding another 46 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
For all the virtual ink that has been spilled about Aaron Rodgers’ playoff excellence, his NFC North rival’s been almost as good. Cutler’s quarterback rating for today’s game is a sterling 115.4.
One might note that Cutler was playing a losing team at home, but one could also fairly note that the Packers were playing in much better conditions on the road.
Now, unless the Seahawks have a voucher for 25 points or an earthquake hits the Chicago lakefront, it appears likely that the Bears will host the Packers at Soldier Field for the right to go to the Super Bowl in the NFC Championship Game next week.
The NFL’s longest-running rivalry getting its highest-profile game ever? Yeah, I think the NFL would be okay with that outcome.
