After losing John Carlson to an injury early in today’s NFL playoffs game, it appears that the Seahawks will be without Marcus Trufant.
Seahawks Lose Marcus Trufant To Likely Concussion, Bears Still Leading
Trufant was injured when his head collided with a Bears player’s knee while trying to make a tackle, and Trufant went down and stayed down for several minutes. Trufant’s arms splayed out stiffly to his sides in the classic “fencing response”, which makes it very likely Trufant sustained a concussion on the play.
Trufant was moved to a cart and left the field, but FOX reports that he has movement in all of his extremeties. It’s likely that he will be out for the game with his head injury.
On the FOX broadcast, Mike Pereira and the announcers in the booth discussed a potential mandatory knee pad rule to help protect players in these situations.
The score in the third quarter is Bears 21, Seahawks 0. But the Bears are driving and are poised to pad their lead further.
